Center for Neurodivergent Children at Princeton Prep

2 Years - 6 Years

At Princeton Preparatory Schools’ Center for Neurodivergent Children, we believe every child deserves to be understood, supported, and celebrated. Our mission is to support neurodiverse children who face challenges in reaching developmental milestones, while empowering and guiding their families as active partners in the journey of growth. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy and built upon evidence based practices, our center offers a compassionate, structured, and nurturing environment for children with autism, ADHD, speech delays, sensory differences, and other neurodivergent profiles.

Our Academic Approach

At Princeton Preparatory Schools’ Center for Neurodivergent Children, our early childhood academic program is rooted in hands-on, experiential learning, inviting children to explore real world concepts through movement, touch, and discovery. Aligned with the Montessori philosophy, our environment encourages curiosity, independence, and engagement across all domains of development.

We use a variety of sensory rich modalities to support visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners, ensuring that each child can connect with the material in a way that suits their unique learning style. While our curriculum meets educational milestones, it is delivered in a developmentally appropriate, holistic, and child centered manner. Children learn in diverse environments, from carefully prepared indoor classrooms to nature based outdoor spaces and community based field experiences, because we believe meaningful learning can happen anywhere.

A Holistic Environment

The Center for Neurodivergent Children is housed within Princeton Preparatory Schools, a Christian Montessori school located in the peaceful neighborhood of Gigiri, just off UN Avenue. Our campus offers a variety of outdoor learning environments designed to spark curiosity and hands-on exploration.

These include a child-sized working kitchen for cooking and baking, a “kijiji,” which is Swahili for village, where real life experiences and social learning unfold, a thriving garden, and an animal area with chickens, rabbits, and an aviary for bird watching. Every element of the environment is thoughtfully prepared to support whole child development through nature, real-life experiences, and purposeful Learning, while engaging children.

Individualized Attention

While educators lead the learning process, student growth requires not only teachers but therapists, family, and community members which sets our school apart as we involve every part of a student’s support system.

To put this into practice, each student will have an individualized plan that compiles information from teachers, therapists, staff, and parents including academic and social strengths and challenges to have a holistic view of the student in multiple settings.  We also utilize an assessment program, which is administered quarterly to monitor progress.

Monthly Assessments

While trained educators guide the learning process, we recognize that a child’s growth is best supported through a collaborative network that includes therapists, families, and the broader community. This integrated approach sets our center apart.

Each child receives an Individualized Growth Plan. To ensure meaningful progress, we use a child-sensitive assessment system conducted quarterly, allowing us to monitor growth and adjust support in a responsive and compassionate way.

Year Round Schooling

By offering year round schooling, we provide consistency and routine that are essential for students to thrive. Our comprehensive approach addresses both academic and emotional needs, ensuring that students receive the necessary support to reach their full potential.
